Important Notes

  • A Schengen visa allows stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period across all 29 Schengen countries. Apply to the country where you will spend the most nights (or, if equal, your first point of entry) — up to 6 months and no later than 15 days before travel.
  • The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is fully operational since 10 April 2026 — your fingerprints and facial image are registered at the first Schengen border crossing. ETIAS does not apply to visa holders.
  • Under the EU "cascade" rules for Indian nationals, applicants who have lawfully used two Schengen visas in the previous 3 years may be issued a 2-year multiple-entry visa, followed by a 5-year visa.
  • Romania became a full Schengen member on 1 January 2025 — a regular Schengen visa is now required.
